Fr. Giuseppe G. Scollo was born and raised in Italy. He is the second of four children and has three sisters, one of them being a Benedictine cloistered nun.
At the age of 19, he felt called to the priesthood and entered the Redemptoris Mater Missionary Seminary of Toronto. He obtained a Bachelor of Catholic Thought from St. Philip’s and an Honors M.Div. from St. Augustine’s Seminaries. Fr. Scollo was ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Toronto in May 2007 and served as Associate Pastor at St. Marguerite d’Youville Parish in Brampton.
A year later he was sent to Rome to complete his licentiate and doctoral studies (at the Biblicum and the Gregorian Universities, respectively). In January 2017, he began teaching as sessional lecturer in Biblical Theology. In May 2018, Thomas Card. Collins appointed him vice-rector to the Redemptoris Mater Missionary Seminary and, in June of the same year, Assistant Professor of Biblical Theology and member of St. Augustine’s Academic Faculty. After some years spent at the Seminary, as of Tuesday, October 26, 2021, he has now been appointed Pastor of our parish, while he continues to teach at St. Augustine Seminary, on Mondays or Fridays. As we accompany him with our prayers, we thank him for accepting this invitation and welcome him to our Church with gratitude.
